In the span of about a week I saw three movies! Instead of giving them each a post, I’m just going to throw them all here with some short thoughts and what not.
Once I started hearing how great this movie was, I had to see it. And it lived up the hype! I love scary movies and this one is probably one of my favorites. I can’t remember the last time I saw a horror movie and was actively rooting for the protagonist to survive. I needed Chris to make it out of this movie in one piece. I was on the edge of my seat till the very end. Seriously, if you haven’t seen this movie yet do yourself a favor and do it now. Even if you aren’t a horror movie fan. This movie is about much more than that. And if you’re worried about gore or blood, you’ll be fine! I can’t wait to see what Jordan Peele graces us with next.
Kong: Skull Island
I have a very petty history with this movie that goes way back to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con. I wasn’t planning on seeing it but ended up with free passes. Guys, it was fucking fantastic. The entire cast was spot on, visually it was amazing, and it was filled with bad ass monster fights. This is 100% a monster movie. It’s a movie that knows what the people want. We want giant ass monsters fighting each other! Unlike “Godzilla” (which I loved), Kong is in the entire film. Tom Hiddleston did a great job in the role, and I never once though of Loki while watching it. Brie Larson, man I can’t wait to see her as Captain Marvel! If you do go out and see this, make sure you stick it out till the end! There’s a post credit scene that’s pretty exciting if you’re a fan of monster movies!
I cried. I cried a lot. It was such a beautifully shot film. Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart were, of course, amazing together. Dafne Keen who played Laura, she’s something special and I can’t wait to see where her career goes. I keep telling people that this is just a really amazing movie that just happens to have mutants in it. I don’t even think of it as a super hero or comic book movie. It’s just a movie. And I’m someone who was 100% over Wolverine. I thought Fox used the character way too much when they had tons of other amazing characters at their disposal. But this was the perfect send off for the character, and for Jackman.
And there ya go! I highly recommend seeing all of these films. They were worth every penny, and I would pay to see “Skull Island.” I might actually take my dad to see, I know he’d love it! What movies have you seen lately?
