I only have one question…
Oh and the soup of the day will be the tears of our enemy! Enjoy!
I really didn’t think picking out a mask for New Years Eve would be this hard! I thought once I had the dress that it would be a piece of cake. Wrong. There’s just too many awesome and beautiful masks out there. I looked on various websites including Ebay and Etsy. I loved what I found on Etsy but I couldn’t justify spending $50(!!) on a mask I’m probably only going to wear once, maybe twice if I’m lucky.
I feel that I’ve looked at hundreds of masks. That might be an exaggeration but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were true. I had picked out one that I thought I liked early on but then I realized I wanted something more glitzy. Translation: I wanted feathers. I looked at all different colors. I looked at red masks. I checked out a few black and silver. I looked at a combination of those colors. Oh, BTW, why must people ruin a great red mask by adding gold touches instead of silver? Why not offer both options? Numerous times I’d find a red mask that I liked and then noticed the trim or whatever was in gold. FAIL. Moving on. I ended up back at the first website I checked out, Success Creations. I then finally settled on red because I wanted something with color and I figure I can wear it with either dress. That’s when I finally after millions of hours and internet searches, purchased this:
Cute, right? It has a little bit of everything. It’s cute, has a feather and a little something something with the lace. Now I finally relax and actually look forward to NYE instead of worrying about a mask!
I’ve been at the office for almost 6 years now (maybe 7?) and I still don’t feel like my office space is my personal space. I’ve started working on that though! I’ve started to slowly add some stuff. I don’t want to add too much though because we’ll be moving into a brand new building next year and I don’t need to have any extra crap to move. Another thing that makes it harder to “decorate” is the fact that my desk setup is weird and my “office” is a corner cube in the main copier area. I don’t have a normal office or cube like most people. I don’t want to have anything too nice out that could walk away because I don’t have a door.
Alright, enough whining. Here’s what I have added though in order to make it more my own personal space. I do have a few family photos. I have a framed picture of my nephew that my sister gave me plus a framed picture of Wolf, my dog. I have a wedding photo from my sister’s wedding that I printed out as well. It’s not framed though, just tacked up. Then I have my Baltimore Orioles 2011 calendar (I still need to pick up the 2012) plus my Buck Showalter bobblehead.
The fun really starts with all my “Keep Calm & ” pictures I’ve started to print out. See, there are perks to working and being in charge of the copiers. You get to print all kinds of crap. Right now I only have three but I can see that expanding soon. I keep doing Google searches for more and it’s amazing and hysterical what people come up with. Oh and in the middle of those I have a picture of Chris Evans as Captain America. Sadly, it’s not a shirtless picture. I’m not 100% sure that would be work appropriate.
It’s a start. I keep toying with the idea of bringing in my talking “Psych” bobbleheads but I’m worried they might walk off. Of course I’m not sure our cleaning people would know who or what they are. I might just wait until we move to bring those in. We’ll see.
What about you guys? How do you make your work space your own?
Oh Halloween, How I love you! It’s seriously my favorite holiday. I love the candy and the dressing up and all the scary movies. It’s perfect.
I didn’t have too many plans for this year. Friday night I went to a bull roast called “Bull-O-Ween.” I’ve gone the past three years and it’s put together by a friend I went to school with. The money she raises goes to Breast Cancer too which is really nice. I think the first year she raised $2,000! I went as “Little Red Riding Hood” but I carried an axe. My friend Vicki went as Batgirl, another friend was a Genie and finally the only guy in our little group went as a Mummy. We had a great time! We went last year and actually left after about an hour. We weren’t feeling it but this year, was awesome. The food was great, the crowd was pretty good and the music was decent too. It did seem that the DJ played a few of the “line dance songs” more than once and I don’t remember hearing any Lady Gaga! I mean, how can you celebrate Halloween yet play NO Lady Gaga?
Some of the costumes we saw were pretty creative too. We saw a pair dressed as “Double Dare.” Remember that show? I loved it as a kid and always wanted to be on it. Someone else was dressed as cemetery cross. She was covered in fake flowers. It really was awesome. Of course we saw a couple zombie costumes and a group came as “Angry Birds” with some of them dressing as the pigs. There were a few girls just wearing corsets basically. I have no idea what they were supposed to be. There was one guy dressed as Tom Cruise from “Risky Business.” That was creative and different. It seemed most of the guys just threw on Ravens jerseys and their tailgating make up and called it a day.
We closed the dance floor down and stayed the entire time this year, leaving around 1am. It was a great time and I always look forward to it! Plus my friend won an award! She snagged “Most Likely To Be Arrested!”
That’s pretty much all I did for Halloween believe it or not. I couldn’t find anyone to go out Saturday night plus it snowed. Yes, you read that right. It snowed here Saturday. It’s October! It shouldn’t be snowing yet! Today I’m just relaxing at home. Tomorrow I’ll probably wear my Captain America stuff and call it a day as far as a costume for work. Then it’s Aiden (my nephews) first Halloween! I’m looking forward to taking him out!
Normally I don’t give two shits about New Years Eve. I don’t like large groups of people, especially large groups of drunk people. This year though I’m going out to Chicago to visit the BFF and my other Chicagoland friends. I’m even more excited because the party we’re going to has a Masquerade theme! That means we get to wear awesome masks and dress up! Hey, I don’t get to dress up very often. When the opportunity arises I get pretty excited.
I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to find a dress that wasn’t too expensive. I want something wearable for future events but I don’t want to spend an arm and leg. Luckily I stopped by JC Penny this weekend and they had a pretty great sale going on. The dresses were 50% off plus if you used your JCP card you earned another 20% off! Wouldn’t you know it, I just happen to have a card. Of course now that I found a sale, the hard part was trying on 343249086 dresses and finding one that I liked, that fit and would work for the party. I really lucked out. I managed to find two, yes TWO, dresses that I liked and were on sale! Of course now I have a whole new problem…picking one for the party! You can see one dress to the left. The other is a little similar. It has a solid black bottom half but the top area is zebra print. What can I say, I’m a sucker for animal print.
In the end it’ll probably come down to which mask I pick. I’ve found a few that I like. It’s just hard to make a choice because all of them are amazing. Ugh! I hate making choices!
