You all know that I love Elhoffer Design. I own a few dresses and a few cardigans and I’m never disappointed! The latest item to join my closet is her “Stitches Cat Cardigan.” As soon as I saw she was doing something based on Catwoman from “Batman Returns,” I knew I had to have it. It was a mighty need and belonged in my closet! Well, it arrived yesterday and I am in love! It even comes with a little hood with ears! You can even remove the hood if you want, it’s attached with a few buttons. It’s super easy to do, promise. I don’t think this exact cardigan is available any longer but she has tons of other amazing options!
Back in June, my friends and I made reservations for Saved By The Max. It’s the Saved By The Bell themed pop up diner in Chicago and over the weekend, the time finally came! Guys, it was amazing. The amount of details in this place was out of this world. I really expected to see Slater and Zack walk through the door any second. It was like being transported through time! Of course the place was packed but they had everything down to a science. You pay ahead of time when you make your reservations which is really nice. You get an appetizer, main course, plus a dessert. They have other items you can order off the menu too like drinks or milkshakes. But it’s kinda nice to know that everything is paid for and you won’t be sitting there trying to figure out the bill. When your waitress (or waiter) takes your order, they take your order for everything. Like I said, it’s a well oiled machine. And the food was outstanding! Sometimes at a themed place you have no idea what to expect but the serving sizes were perfect and everything I tried tasted great. It was a perfect birthday dinner and I’m beyond glad my friend and I have no impulse control and booked this when we did! Now onto the photos!
Yes, we wore matching shirts. And yes, we basically did cosplay. Look, if you’re going to go to a place like this, you just have to dress up! It’s part of the fun! But seriously it was a great time and the people behind this idea did a fantastic job bringing it all to life! They even tell you when you’re waiting for your food to get up and take photos. It’s super encouraged and the staff have no issues taking photos for you. It was super fun keeping an eye on different areas, waiting for people to leave so we could rush over and take pictures. It was just really the fucking best.
I already did my Amazon post, now it’s time to help out the little guy! I love supporting small businesses when I can. I mean, sure it’s nice to order something and get it the next day, but it’s even better to have something that’s high quality and knowing I’m helping someone pay their bills and live their dream.
You shouldn’t be surprised to see her listed! I own three of her items, with two more on the way! Everything from her handmade items to her factory offerings are amazing in quality. Plus her turn around for instock items is just mind blowing. I ordered a dress on Thursday (it might have been 1AM on Friday, don’t judge) and it’s already here! I feel like she’s always adding new items as well. Plus she’s a sweetheart and busts her ass to bring us ladies some amazing geeky fashion.
If you need some jewelry to go along with those dresses and sweaters, here you go! I’ve ordered a few pieces from OS and I’ve always been pleased! The last thing I ordered was a “Screw U” necklace and it’s amazing. The quality is top notch. They cover all the fandoms though from comics to TV to you history and science nerds too!
If you’re looking for a beautiful and comfortable harness to wear with that top or dress, look no further. I own one with a second on the way! You can pick from a wide range of colors and designs! The materials used are super comfy and the pricing can’t be beat! She offers sales from time to time as well!
Abby offers some awesome fan art in both prints and buttons! I have a few buttons and love them. There’s really something for everyone in the shop!
I love Nina and I love what she offers! Like with everything else on the list, I do own a few of her necklaces and I adore them. They’re really great quality. I love that she mixes in some interesting background designs with the characters. Right now she has a ton of Star Wars options! Just in time for some new movie I think that’s coming out soon?
It’s exactly what it sounds like! Juliet takes broken plates and turns them into some amazing pieces! You’ll find everything from earrings to wine bottle stoppers to cuff links to framed art. The plate designs are really beautiful and it’s nice to see something that’s not being used anymore turned into works of wearable art.
And there you go! I didn’t want the list to get too long and I wanted to stick with shops I’ve used. Of course there are tons of local to you businesses as well that you should check out this Holiday season!
I can’t believe it’s November and that means the holidays are around the corner! That means it’s time to start shopping and looking for deals. I’m always browsing around Amazon and figured I’d share a few items here. Yes, the links you find here are affiliate links! That just means if you shop via them, I earn a little bit of money. I really appreciate everyone who uses my links. It really means a lot and helps out during this time of the year!
Art of Books:
You can find them for a ton of movies these days. Personally, I love them. I own a few and the amount of info, art, and behind the scenes goodness you’ll find is amazing! They can be a little costly though, which is why I normally buy them from Amazon. Marvel’s Doctor Strange: The Art of the Movie is $44.21 at the moment (normally $50). The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is $36.48, and for the DC fan in your life, Wonder Woman: The Art and Making of the Film is $37.55. The Wonder Woman book isn’t due out till next year, but maybe you know someone who has a birthday then! If you need something before then, check out Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: The Art of the Film which is only $26.48.
Comic Book Trades:
I mean, of course I have to include this. If you know someone who’s into murder or true crime I highly suggest Nailbiter Volume 1: There Will Be Blood which can be yours for just under $7. It’s about a town that “creates” a very large amount of serial killers and trying to figure out how and why. If murder isn’t what you’re looking for, maybe Patsy Walker, A.K.A. Hellcat! Vol. 1: Hooked On A Feline is. If you’re looking for more female creators to support, maybe grab Mockingbird Vol. 1: I Can Explain. The current Black Widow run has been outstanding as well, and you can grab the first trade here!
Where I live, it’s starting to get a little chilly out which means it’s the perfect time to stock up on new pajamas! If there’s a Spider-Gwen fan in your life, maybe grab them this Spider-Gwen Romper with Hood. Personally I love this Black Widow set. Maybe you’re into DC? Then maybe some fleece Harley pants are what you’re looking for! Or to really get into the Holiday spirit, maybe some Nightmare Before Christmas pants are more your speed.
Movies & TV
You can’t really go wrong with the gift of entertainment! You can purchase the The Hunger Games: Complete 4 Film Collection [Blu-ray + Digital HD] for $39. Or Star Trek Beyond (BD/DVD/Digital HD Combo) [Blu-ray] for $19.96. Maybe you have a friend who doesn’t have Netflix? Then you’ll be happy to know that Daredevil: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] is now available! Penny Dreadful: The Final Season is available as well. Seriously, there are a ton of options on Amazon when it comes to movies and TV. Be sure to keep checking their Gold Box and sale sections as we get closer to the Holidays. A lot of these prices will drop!
I hope you enjoyed this little list! Please keep in mind that prices on Amazon always change! What’s listed here was accurate for when I wrote the post! But that doesn’t mean tomorrow they won’t be different. Have any of you started your shopping yet?
I’m all about supporting friends and that’s why I’m here to tell you about The San Diego Conquest Kickstarter! The writer is my friend Mario who I’ve known for a few years now. His name might sound familiar because he wrote “Ashes” which I blogged about as well. I met Mario back when I started When Nerds Attack. He reached out to me about being a writer and he really brought something unique and fun to the site. I probably would have been lost without his help! Now he’s back and writing about a group of friends and their comic-con adventures. I mean, if you like and enjoy conventions this is something you should 100% check out.
The San Diego Conquest is a buddy comedy set at the world’s most famous comic convention! This 120 page fully colored graphic novel is about a comic artist (and theme park princess) named Becca who heads to a big convention in San Diego with her BFF DeSean and brother Ashton in hopes of getting a big time comic editor to look at her comic. Naturally, the whole thing blows up in their faces in the most outrageous ways possible.
Along with Mario doing the writing, you’ll find artist Rob Alan, colorist Lesley Atlansky, and lettering by Taylor Esposito. This book really is a team effort and the perks they’ve come up with are pretty great! Here are a few samples:

There are even a few higher levels that include artwork, or being drawn into the story! I honestly might increase my backing to one of those levels, but gotta see how the budget looks come December. As of right now, with just a few hours under its belt, the campaign is sitting at just over $1,000 with a goal of $20,000. Don’t worry, you still have 44 days left to support the KS if you want!
Be sure to check the San Diego Conquest Kickstarter for all the details, and hey, maybe even back it if you like!
