This weekend I saw “Ghostbusters” (twice) and I fucking loved it. I took my mom on Saturday to see it and she told me she almost pissed herself laughing! I wasn’t sure what to expect going in. Unlike most people out there, I had enjoyed the trailers but still had no idea what the actual story centered around. The story wasn’t anything really amazing but I still enjoyed it. What really made the movie though was the cast. These ladies were fantastic, along with Chris Hemsworth. In my opinion Chris and Kate McKinnon really stole the movie. I hope Hollywood puts Chris in more comedies because he was realy great. It was nice to see him do something different and while I love Thor, I think Kevin is probably my favorite role. Then you have Kate McKinnon has Holtzmann and I wasn’t sure I wanted to be her, be friends with her, or make out with her. I just loved everything about her. She made bad ass tools, had out there style, and was just really different. I think my favorite scene from the movie was when she was slo-mo battling a ton of ghosts with the theme playing. It was just beautiful.
The ghosts were visually amazing to see. I loved that we saw various styles and characters. Some of them were just down right beautiful. And the 3D effects were on point. I see a lot movies in 3D and I have to say this was the firs time where I’d really, honestly recommend seeing it in 3D if you can. The way the director played around with content “off” the screen was pretty nice. When the ghosts were coming at you, it really felt like they were going to 100% attack you! I think I even ducked a time or two!
Another thing I really loved were all the cameos. I thought they worked really well and didn’t take anything away from the movie at all. It was nice to see the film get the support from the original cast. If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the cameo that was teamed up with Holtzmann. I don’t want to spoil it but it was pretty good! I also had no idea Andy Garcia was in this movie! I was watching it going “Wait, is that Andy Garcia??” and it was!
So, if you’ve been on the fence about the movie, don’t be! You should instead rush out and see it as soon as you can! And be sure to stay through the credits for some hilarious bonus stuff. Also…I think…I liked this movie more than the original!
Did you see “Ghostbusters” this weekend? What did you think?
