Like most people, my fitness routine comes and goes. That’s probably the only part of it that’s routine. I even made it a goal one month to hit the gym and I made it once that entire month. But something has to change because I’m just not that happy with my body. This isn’t a call for compliments because in the end it doesn’t matter what anyone else think if I’m not happy.
In order to get on the right track again I deleted MyFitnessPal and started over 100%. I deleted the account (not just the app) and made a new username and everything. It feels like a fresh start and not just trying again for the hundredth time. Plus I had a ton of random people as “Friends” and it just felt weird and it didn’t really help with motivation or anything. If any of you want to add me though you can find my profile here. It’s only been about a week but I’ve been doing really good with tracking my calories and drinking more water. I still need to kick that morning Dew at work but I’m getting there. I made it to the gym three times last week as well. My last visit I almost lasted an hour which is pretty awesome! I hope to try and make it three times a week. Plus I have softball on Monday’s (when the weather isn’t shit). I’m doing better with packing a lunch and trying to eat breakfast. I’m weird in the fact I love breakfast foods and eating it while on vacation but I’d rather have that extra time in the morning to sleep. So I’ve been doing the ole overnight oats to kick start things. I don’t do anything fancy yet but I’ve found a few recipes that I like. And FYI, don’t let the food blogs out there make it feel overwhelming. Seriously, all you do is take your oats and then add almond/soy/milk to it and that’s pretty much it. Most of the time you add a form of yogurt as well but I do mashed banana instead because I’m weird with yogurt. Then stick it in the fridge to soak and boom, breakfast is ready. Don’t be fooled into thinking you have to add 100 other things to it.
I even went out and bought a new FitBit. I had the Flex and used it but like most things, just kinda started to forget about it. Plus I lost the charger and it bugged my skin a bit (which can be a thing with them). This time around though I picked up the new Alta and I’m really liking it so far. It’s not rubbing my arm in a weird way like the last one. Plus it’s really awesome with reminders to get up and move, which is something I need with my office job. Plus it features a watch which is nice. It let’s you know if you’ve done 250 steps every hour (9AM-6PM) and if you haven’t, it gives you a little kick in the ass. Sometimes it’ll tell you how many steps you need to take to reach the 250. I just think it’s really neat and fun! It’s more like a game and feels like a challenge. Plus I have it synced up with MFP.
And of course having kickass gym gear from Her Universe helps too. I honestly do think having cool and fun gear can help motivate you in getting out more and hitting the gym. I’m hoping once the weather gets nicer I can start going on some hikes or at least some walks outside on the weekends. I love hiking and nature, I just need Mother Nature to realize it’s Spring and cut it out with the snow.
Anyone else out there trying to kick it into gear in the health department?
