I love a good horror or scary movie but these days, it’s getting harder to find them. Personally, I’m not into the “let’s saw them up” type of movies. I don’t mind gore and I even enjoyed the first “Saw” movie but then they just became these weird and unnecessarily violent films. That means more of my picks are probably going to be more on the thriller side of things!
Jennifer Carpenter from “Dexter” stars as Emily Rose in this pretty creepy film. The imagery and movements used in this movie really add to the weird and creepy factor and Jennifer was great in her role. The story focuses on a court case that follows a failed exorcism, and leaves you with more questions than answers. Marvel Fun Fact: The director of “Emily Rose” is Scott Derrickson who’s been selected as the director of “Doctor Strange.”
This is probably one of my favorite movies and I’ll watch it anytime and anywhere. Seriously, I use to watch it on my ipod at the gym. The performances are outstanding and the way it was filmed/directed is something special. I think I own three copies of this because reasons.
3. The Craft
Do I even need to explain why? How many of us watched this movie and then wanted to do spells and be witches? Exactly. It’s still hilarious to think that Lisbon from “The Mentalist” was a teenage witch. I wonder if she’s ever dressed like one on the show for Halloween? I’ll have to look into that!
4. The Ring
Does it get any creepier than Samara climbing out of wells and TVs? I don’t think so. This is another one of those “mess with your head” type films. Instead of turning the lights off when you watch this one, maybe you just turn them down a bit.
I’ve been known to argue over if this is a Halloween or Christmas movie but I’m in the camp that it’s both. Whenever this movie is on, I’ll watch it. I own numerous types of NBC goodies and just love Sally to death. Oh and who doesn’t love Zero? He’s adorable. I honestly love this movie to pieces and I’m ever thankful they didn’t try and make some weird ass sequel.
I could easily make this list 10 movies long if I wanted. I just love horror/scary/Halloween movies. I’d probably include Zodiac, Pet Sematary, Poltergeist, and The Woman in Black as well. Now it’s time to go and check out all the other Fandom 5 lists! Maybe I’ll find a new favorite movie!
