I’m really looking forward to 2013 and here are a few of the nerdy reasons why.
If you live in the Chicago area and you love attending different comic conventions, be sure to add this to your list. It’s still pretty new compared to other events but they put on a great show. I’ve been to numerous cons, both big and small, and I’d put this high up on the list. I’ll be heading out to Chicago at the end of April to attend for the 2nd time. I might even cosplay!
2. San Diego Comic Con
I didn’t go last year and cried into my Avengers pillow for a week. OK, it wasn’t really a week but it was upsetting. It’s even harder when you run a blog dedicated to the event and you have to write and post about it. It seemed that with every update I did last year, a little piece of my heart died. That won’t happen this year! We already have a place booked (a condo this time) and our badges. Now we just need to book airfare and it’s on! The best part though will be seeing people I only get to see once a year.
3. Iron Man 3
Is it May yet? I mean, is it? How about now? Now? I’ve been looking forward to this for what feels like years. When the trailer was released last year I think I watched it 100 times and it was the topic of conversation for weeks after. I really can’t wait to see how the movie unfolds and what the feel of it is. I know many are worried it’ll be “too serious” but I think it’ll have its normal amount of Tony Snark. Remember, a trailer is meant to get people talking.
4. Thor 2: The Dark World
Oh look, another Marvel movie! I’ll admit I was late on seeing the first “Thor” movie. I don’t even remember it registering with me when it came out but I’m really looking forward to the 2nd installment. I can’t wait to see what role Loki plays and how long Tom Hiddlestons hair will be.
5. Baltimore Comic Con
Ah, my local con. I love it! It’s 100% comics. You won’t find any D-List celebs here. I love the fact it’s super small because that way I can take my time walking around Artist Alley. That’s my favorite part of any Con but it’s harder at the larger events to find the time. I believe Stan Lee will be back as well which is always a treat.
6. Supernatural Chicago Convention
Hopefully we can pull this off. It’s actually pretty expensive to attend but after seeing all the videos on Tumblr from these things, I have to go. I’ll probably just buy a standard (cheapest) ticket and be on my way with that. I do want to buy a photo-op or two. I hope they put tickets on sale soon! Right now it’s just the super expensive ticket that’s available. It’ll be a fun weekend though if it happens!
7. New York Comic Con
I’m not 100% sure on this one, it all comes down to time and money. It’s normally a last minute thing but I do enjoy attending. They offer some great panels (Avengers, The Walking Dead) and always play host to some awesome comic talent. Plus once again I get to see friends I don’t normally see.
Man, that’s a long ass list. It’s a good thing that everything is spread out. Anyone else attending at conventions this year?
