I love reading. I’ve always enjoyed reading and when I got a Kindle two years ago, it became even easier. No longer did I have to run out to the bookstore or order something online and wait for it to arrive. I could have it in seconds. But of course things get in the way. There’s work. There’s TV. There’s life. I actually found that I did most of my reading when I was dog sitting and didn’t have internet access. The last time I was pet sitting I was able to bang out two books. The time before that I finished the entire Hunger Games triology. When I get in the groove, I get in the groove.
Then I check out reading/book memes and realize, shit I don’t read enough! There’s no way I could come up with a Top 10 anything book or reading related. Or if I did it would just be the 10 books I even managed to read this year. Hell, I’m not sure I’ve even read 10 books. I know three off the top of my head! (I just checked my Amazon account and it looks like I did indeed have 10 books, but barely). This has to change. I think I’m going to make reading more my main goal for 2013. It really shouldn’t be that hard but it’s easy to think of excuses already. I actually have less excuses than others because I’m a fast reader. If I can get into a book right off the bat I can pretty much finish it in a few hours. I finished all three of the Hunger Games books in about two days. Plus if I do find myself wrapped up in a series, thanks to owning a Kindle I can have the next one in a flash. I don’t wait around dying to know what happens because I can’t get to a bookstore or I’m waiting for it arrive in the mail.
I know I can complete this goal. I made a reading goal before, to branch out away from True Crime, and I did it. Granted, I just moved onto thrillers but it’s something.
Do you have any reading related goals? Do you feel like you need to step up your reading game?
