Look! I remembered! Before we get into any new goals, let’s look back at my goals for July!
Goal 1: Cut Back Spending: Half Check?
I say “half” because while I don’t think I really “cut back” on spending, I did make some changes. I finally got around to switching car insurance which is saving me $70 a month. Yes, $70 a month! I’ve been wanting to switch for months but just thinking about it stressed me out. I have no idea why. I mean car insurance is a big deal and I guess I was worried I’d fuck it up somehow? I cancelled my Kindle Unlimited subscription as well which is another $9.99 saved plus I stopped my Ipsy bag. That’s $10 saved. That means just by making some changes I was able to free up $90. Now I just need to work on saving that extra money or putting it towards something good.
Goal 2: Put Extra Money Towards The Car: Check
It wasn’t much but I did put an extra $63 towards my car payment. I think once I get a handle on things a little better I’ll be able to make it $100 a month.
Goal 3: Walk More: Check!
Thank you Pokemon Go! I’ve been going for lunchtime walks with a coworker in order to catch them all. Even though it’s been 100F outside most of the month.
Goal 4: Read A Book: Check!
I actually finished three books this month! I started a 4th but had trouble getting into it. I have until the 11th before my Kindle Unlimited ends. I’ve been trying to read as much as I can for “free” before then.
I think I did pretty well last month! I signed up for a budget program through my bank as well to help with the spending. It just shows where your money is going and you can set goals for different categories. It’s a real eye opener honestly. I was instantly able to see where I need to cut back.
Now onto August!
Goal 1: Drink More Water
I feel like this always a goal. I’m horrible when it comes to drinking water and really need to improve on this.
Goal 2: SDCC 2017 Saving
I’m going back to San Diego Comic-Con and need to start stashing away money for it. I’m glad a few more friends are coming because it really helps with the hotel costs. Now here’s hoping I get a ton of Southwest gift cards for my birthday and Christmas!
Goal 3: Take A Tech Break
I don’t mean altogether but maybe on weekends or when I get home from work. I’m pretty much on the computer all day because of my job. I need to learn to take a break when I can.
Goal 4: Keep Up The Money Stuff
I think it might take another month or two to really see how much “extra” money I have. Budgets are something that always need to be watched and looked at. I have three Hot Toys on order and those payments are just hanging there like the last person at the end of the party who just won’t leave.
And I think that’s it! I think I set some pretty basic and easy to reach goals but we’ll see. I think the water thing is going to be the hardest honestly.
