Funko Fridays: Quick Fix For Tumbling Pops

July 22, 2016 12 Comments

Funko Fridays Blogging Prompt

If you follow me on social media, you know that when my Funko Pop Civil War Hawkeye & Spider-Man arrived, I was pretty annoyed. I was really excited since I love Hawkeye. Then I opened the box, went to stand him up, and imagine that, he kept falling over. I checked the box for a stand but nothing. What’s really annoying is the fact that his Pop has a wide stance. There really isn’t any reason for him to topple over. I know others have had issues with Hawkeye as well. Sadly, I put him back in the box until I could figure something out. Then I was at Michael’s the other day for lights for my Hot Toys (that will be another post) when I started looking around to see if I could find something to use as a base. I came across the perfect little wooden circle. It wasn’t too big or thick. Plus it was only 29 cents. I was a little worried it wouldn’t be “heavy” enough but figured it wasn’t a huge loss if it failed. I threw some paint on it, got out my super glue (which I got all over my hands and almost glued Clint to me), and crossed my fingers.

It worked! I was super pleased since it’s such a quick, affordable, and easy fix. I might head back and pick up a few more to keep on hand for future Pop issues. I think we all have *those Pops* that just refuse to stand. I would have liked to have used something plastic/clear but couldn’t find anything that would have worked.

And an update on my SDCC Exclusives! I managed to get most of the Pops that I wanted! I was able to get the few I wanted from Hot Topic online, then a friend is still working on Doctor Strange. GameStop had an issue with the shipments.

What tricks do you use for your problematic Pops? Did you score any of the exclusives?

Funko Friday: SDCC Exclusives I Want

July 15, 2016 6 Comments

Funko Friday is back!

Funko Fridays Blogging Prompt

Sadly, I’m not going to San Diego Comic-Con this year, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been keeping an eye on exclusives. The one thing I love that Funko started doing was selling their “Con Exclusives” outside of the show. Granted, they can be hard to track down but at least it gives us a chance. This year only a few caught my eye but I’m going to do my best to get my hands on them. In most cases you’ll find the Funko items at stores like Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble, and GameStop! Now onto my list!

Dorbz: Burton Batman 3-Pack (Batman, Catwoman, Penguin)

image-SDCC-2016-Exclusives-06-Dorbz-Burton-Batman-3-Pack-Batman-Catwoman-Penguin

The only reason I want this is because of Catwoman. I’d love if they gave her a proper Pop! Maybe one day down the line.

Pop! Marvel: Doctor Strange – Doctor Strange with Rune

image-SDCC-2016-Exclusives-21-Pop-Marvel-Droctor-Strange-Doctor-Strange-with-Rune

I’m not that excited about the movie but even I can admit this Pop is pretty cute. Plus I’m a sucker for the Marvel Pops.

Pop! Disney: The Nightmare Before Christmas – #205 Pajama Jack Skellington

image-SDCC-2016-Exclusives-31-Pop-Disney-The-Nightmare-Before-Christmas-205-Pajama-Jack-Skellington

I’m a sucker for The Nightmare Before Christmas as well. I was able to snag the NYCC exclusive Pop at Hot Topic last year pretty easily. Here’s hoping this guy is easy to get my hands on as well.

Pop! Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Thumbs Up BB-8

image-SDCC-2016-Exclusives-56-Pop-Star-Wars-The-Force-Awakens-Thumbs-Up-BB-8

Do I really need to explain why I need this one? I mean, just look at the cuteness! It would be my first Star Wars Pop and I can already feel myself falling down the slope.

And that’s it! If you want to see a full list of the Funko Exclusives for SDCC, here you go! What exclusives would make your list? Let me know!

Funko Fridays: How do you display your Funko?

March 11, 2016 13 Comments

If you’re new here, check out this new and updated post on ways to display your Funko collection here!

I honestly have them all over the place. I have some in my room on random shelves. I have some in my Detolf mixed among my Hot Toys. I have them at work! I’m not sure there’s a space around me that doesn’t have a Pop somewhere in it. I’m sure you can all relate! They slowly just start to take over every surface! I blogged about this a few weeks ago, but at work I now have a plastic riser on my desk to help make room for more Pops. I spend most of my time at work, like many of us, so it’s nice to be surrounded by my nerdy things.

I might bring a few from home to add to it, or just order more because why not? But now I’m going to share with you a few different Funko Pop display cases/options I’ve come across!

Custom POP Display Case: $69.99

This is available from Awesome Toyz. You can pick from different colors, and themes! They actually offer a few different options, including units that have LED lights, or Star Wars themed shelves.

Funko Pop! Vinyl 10 Piece Display

Maybe you want your display to look like it came right from the store? Then this is for you! It’s basically what they use to hold the Pops at places like Target! It’s $19.99 from Amazon.

Clear UV Acrylic/Plastic Display Box Case Dustproof Tray Protection 4Step 9.8″L

If you really want to keep your Pops out of harms way, this is perfect. It’s basically just a riser but it has a case too. It’s a nice way to keep dust off things and maybe keep little hands (or paws) from knocking your stuff over! Right now it’s under $20 on Amazon plus 56% off the regular price.

Funko Premium POP Protector

If you’re someone who keeps their Pops in their boxes, this is something you might want to check out. You simple place the box inside and it’s nice and protected! It’s $9.99, which could add up but maybe you just use them for your important Funkos.

And that’s it! Granted, there are hundreds of more options out there. I didn’t even link to anything from Ikea. If you are looking for a nice display cabinet that’s easy to put together and to customize I highly recommend The Detolf. People in the Hot Toys world use them and it’s amazing what they do with them! I have one and I love it. Even though it’s getting crowded and I’m going to need a second one soon!

Funko Fridays: Spice Racks For Pop Displays!

February 26, 2016 9 Comments

It’s Funko Friday! The theme for this week was Show & Tell but I wanted to change it up, again. The only new Pops I have are Agent Carter and Deadpool and I already did posts on them. Like most Pop collectors, I have them all over the place. I have them in my room (I live at home), in the living room, at work. I bet if I looked I could find one in my car. I don’t have never ending space though, and that was obvious on my desk at work. I had them all in a nice little line but was pretty much out of room for them. I have other goodies like framed art that take up space as well. I finally decided to do something about it and started poking around the internet to see what I could find. Basically, I knew I wanted something that had levels, that’s the only way I could “add” to the space I have. I had to go vertical! The main consensus was to use a spice rack. I’m picky though and wanted to make sure I bought one with the right amount of space for them to stand on. Some of them come with stands which means I needed something where the steps had some width. After doing tons of searching, I landed on the 3-Tier Acrylic Cabinet Organizer from The Container Store. One reason I picked this one over others was this review:

This item is a great riser for displaying Funko Pops on a bookshelf!

Yes, that is a legit review that was left! I couldn’t believe it. I actually laughed a little bit over it. Glad to see other collectors are out there helping their fellow Pop Fiends out. It was only $14.99 plus if you signed up for their email you got a 15% off coupon. Plus The Container Store is part of Ebates which means I earned some cash back! Shipping was a little high but if you have a store nearby, you can do a pick up option. And honestly, I’m sure you could find something similar at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, or some other random store. Enough blabbering, onto the photo!

There you go! It does the job perfectly! It’s a little longer than I was expecting but I’m horrible with picturing stuff like that, even with measurements. I’m still playing around with placement. I already moved the Game Stop Widow down a step, in order to see the shield. I might end up using all the levels, in order to space everyone out nicely that way everyone is 100% visible.

How do you store your pops? In box? On a shelf? In a display cabinet? Everywhere? Let me know in the comments!

Funko Fridays: Deadpool Collector Corps Unboxing!

February 19, 2016 7 Comments

I know this isn’t the theme for the week but my box arrived and I figured what the hell. I’ve really been looking forward to this box since it was announced. I love Deadpool and couldn’t wait to see what goodies were included! As always, the box came with a patch and pin.

I really need to start putting these things on the jacket I bought. Oops. They aren’t anything super special but I do like them. If you were hoping for a shirt, you’re in luck! This time around there’s a super cute Deadpool Funko shirt! I love these shirts and glad we scored one for free. I always think about picking one up but never do. Of course there’s the free comic too. After seeing the nice mix of items in the GOTG box, I was hoping for more of the same this time around. While we didn’t get one of the mugs, we did get three pretty awesome items! There’s the cute little plush, plus a Dorbz, and a brand new Funko Pop!

I love that he’s leaping! I will say be careful with him though. He’s not attached to the base. It just slides into a little hole that’s on his back. It’s not a big deal, but just don’t freak out if you drop him and he falls off. It’s not broken! My nephew dropped him and was worried he broke him but have no fear, TeeTee is here. I love that Deadpool is holding a little horse. Granted, I think after seeing the movie I wish it was a unicorn. In the final photo you can see all the goodies together.

I was really pleased with the box! I know some people are “eh” on the shirts but I really like this one and know it’s one I’ll wear out. I like that we got a Pop that’s different and not just a repaint. I might end up giving the Mopeez to my nephew but we’ll see. What do you guys think? And if you didn’t hear, the next box is all about “Captain America: Civil War!”
