Over the weekend I attended Wizard World Philly and have no problem admitting that the only reason I went was to meet Sebastian Stan. When I first saw the announcement months ago I didn’t even think. I just purchased the VIP option and then started to countdown the days until the magic would happen.
The magic began on Saturday. The first thing I took care of was getting my Mondo Captain America: Winter Soldier poster signed. I wanted to get that out of the way because I wanted to take it back to the room ASAP. I was really paranoid that something bad would happen to it and then I would be in a corner crying about it the entire weekend. Of course nothing happened to it and it’s now hanging out my wall in my room. I totally froze up though during the signing and the only thing I could say was “Thank you” when he was finished. I know right? Totally original. Way to keep your cool Barb. Anthony Mackie was running late so I took the poster back to the hotel room and then we got in line for the photo op. Honestly, I spent most of the weekend in a line for something but that’s what happens at these things.
I really had no idea what to do for my photo. I was really nervous because of reasons obviously. I mean, I had all these ideas in my head but then just ended up doing a normal pose. I was good though until he put his other arm around me and I ended up being wrapped up by him. Seriously, I was all “This is cool. I’m cool. I’m good” and then his other arm came around and my brain goes “WHAT IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!” I wasn’t even sure I was looking at the camera, or smiling, or even alive. But this is how it turned out!
I was dressed as a casual version of Black Widow hence the wig. That’s the look of internally screaming though. UGH. I wish my wig was on better too. I need to stop. OK. After this happened I went back to get in for Anthony and had him sign my poster as well.
Anthony was a great guy as well! I didn’t get the chance to say much because they rush you through those lines. You pretty much have to ignore the staff/handlers if you want to tell them a story or attempt a conversation. I know they want to get to as many people as possible but maybe don’t oversell? Just a thought, but I know money talks for an event like Wizard World.
They did a panel as well which was pretty entertaining. Sebastian and Anthony have some great chemistry and I need them to do a buddy cop movie tomorrow. I’ll start a Kickstarter for it and everything. I’ll do all the work, they just need to show up.
The panel was hilarious. Until someone asked about fan fiction and said person was booed as they should be. Please, if you ever get the chance to ask a question at a convention, don’t ask about fan fiction! You honestly think these two guys, who really have no online presence, know anything about fucking fan fiction?! Ugh. Moving on…
Sunday we had our duo photo op and I ended up getting Sebastian’s autograph again. I had a pose all planned out for the duo but I was told no. Seriously, I paid a shitload of money for this stuff. I should be able to do whatever I want within reason! Here’s that photo, where I look like an idiot.
Ugh. My face. I can’t even. Then for the 2nd autograph I had him sign one of the photo’s they had at his table. I asked him if he could sign a certain quote and…
BOOM. While he was signing it, the worse staff member ever (seriously, she was mean and tried to say No to any little request) reminded everyone that it’s names only, no movie quotes. I’m still kicking myself though for not pulling the “We paid almost $300 for this VIP package and if we want a selfie we can get a selfie” card. In the end though, I still had a good time! I got to meet two amazing celebs and got to hang out with some friends! That’s all that really matters! Here are a few more photos from the weekend!
