Today I turn 30. I’m not going to lie, I feel like a bit of a failure as far as being an adult goes. Yes, I have a job and pay own bills and all that “adult stuff” but I still live at home. I know, many adults are living at home these days due to various issues but still. It still sucks.
Let’s look at the positive though. This past year has been pretty good as far as years go. I spent last New Years Eve in Chicago visiting friends. It was a great time, as always. It’s always fun when I head out there, especially for something like NYE. I don’t always get to see everyone when I’m out that way but when a holiday is involved, it’s almost a sure thing. A few months later I found myself in Chicago again, this time for C2E2. Not only that, but I got to catch the Avengers about a month before everyone else. Plus we were used in a fan reaction video by Marvel! Does it get any better?
I wasn’t finished with the Avengers. When it came out in May, I found myself sitting in a theater for 16 hours watching a Marvel marathon. I had never done anything like that before but it was a great time, except for the whole not being able to feel my ass thing. I do recommend giving it a try if you find a marathon you like. It’s really something to sit there and watch movies with other fans. I even won an Avengers poster from AMC via an online contest! It was Avengers all the thingz this year!
June was a pretty good month on the music front. I saw Gavin DeGraw in concert and even met him! He was really nice and laid back. He did his best to try to accommodate all the fans. I think he’d be pretty awesome to hang out with. Oh, his concert was awesome too. I highly recommend checking him out if he comes to your area. Then later on in the month I met Dierks Bentley. This was the 2nd time I met him and he was just as sweet as the first. I’ve seen him live a few times and it’s always high energy. You’re on your feet nonstop pretty much!
In August we had to put Wolf, our dog down. Even now it’s still hard to type out. Let’s move on shall we?
In September the vacation of a lifetime finally happened when I headed off to Hawaii. It was amazing. I already plan to visit again. Maybe I’ll check out a different island or just give myself more time that way I can island hop. If you’ve been thinking about going, do it. You can find deals if you look hard enough. Seriously, do it!
Then October rolled around and I headed up to NYC for New York Comic Con. I wrote about that on my Con blog. This was my 2nd year attending and it’s a good time. It was more crowded than last year but I got to meet Jonathan Nolan who created “Person of Interest” and I was only meer feet away from the amazingly good-looking Jim Caviezel. Plus Clark Gregg was there to announce that Coulson Lives. To hear that news in person was mind-blowing and to hear it with other fans was something special.
As you can tell from this post, this year I let my inner nerd shine. I started getting into comics more thanks to the Avengers movie. I now hit up my comic shop whenever the newest Hawkeye hits the stands. I’ve picked up some other random comics along the way like the new Captain Marvel and whatever else catches my eye at the shop.
I’m already looking forward to next year. I have a feeling it’s going to be a big year with some big changes. I already know I’ll be heading back to San Diego for San Diego Comic Con. I plan to check out a Supernatural convention as well. Plus who knows what else might happen.
Bring on 30! I think I’m ready. Actually I’m not. No wait, I am. No. Not at all.
