There are a lot of things that are hard about doing C25K. You have to find the motivation. You have to get up and do it. You have to actually start it! Then there’s the actual running. I’ve found the hardest part for me though is listening to the prompts. If you don’t know what C25K is, it’s a running app that helps you train for a 5K. It’s a few weeks long and each week you up the running and tone down the walking. In theory, by the end you should be running the entire time. I’m the type of person who just wants to do the thing. I just want to get out there and own those 3.1 miles. But that’s not how things work. Yes, I can do a 5K in a decent (for me anyway) time. But I know I can do better and I know in order to do that I have to do certain things. But man, it’s hard! I’ve never been a runner, which is why it’s silly that I even think I could just lace up my shoes and kick ass.
I am pretty proud of myself though for sticking with it. I haven’t been able to get out as much as I want because of the weather (we had a week of rain) but I’m almost finished Week 2 and hope to find time this weekend to wrap that up and move onto Week 3. The running seems to be getting a little easier. I mean, not much but I don’t feel like I’m dying at the end! Plus I get to see a ton of dogs where I run which always makes things easier. Life is short, you should always stop to pet the puppies! Here are a few photos from where I do my thing. I’ll try and do another check in once I get half way through. Anyone else using C25K or anything similar? How’s it going for ya?
