For the past three or four years (it all runs together now), my group has always stayed at the Hyatt for C2E2. It’s connected to the convention which means it’s super convenient and you don’t have to go outside! I know that must make me sound lazy but when you have no idea how the weather is going to be, it’s a life saver not to have to deal with rain or the cold. Plus you save time because you don’t have to add in the amount of time it would take to get to the con. You can get up whenever and just roll out. Since we’re regulars now, the Hyatt has always treated us very well. If we ever have any needs or questions, they’re always able to help. Last year they sent us some amazing milk and cookies for no reason at all! This year though we really put them to the test by requesting a Groot standee for our room. Now, we did request this months ago. I mean, we had to give them time ya know? As we got closer to our arrival, I kept hoping they were able to pull it off. Deidre and I stood outside the hotel door and slowly opened it to reveal they had in fact scored us a Groot! You would have thought it was Christmas!
Look at him in all his glory! There was a little note letting us know if we needed anything to just let the hotel know. Of course Groot wanted to check out the room. First he had to see the shower which was huge!
Obviously he was ready to celebrate St. Patricks Day. Then he wanted to try a new look. Luckily Deidre had just the ticket!
I made sure to tag James Gunn and he “liked” it. That means we can expect Groot to rock this hair in GOTG2 right? That’s how it works? After partying a bit more, Groot was ready for bed.
Creepy Fact: He sleeps with his eyes open! Who knew!
I still can’t believe we had a Groot waiting for us in our room. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place really does go out of their way to make their guests feel like they’re at home. They even sent us cookies, brownies, and milk! Just because! And whenever we did reach out for something, we didn’t have to wait long for it to arrive at our room. We even called down about a HDMI cable (so we could watch Daredevil) and they had one! There was a wait for the elevators on Saturday but there’s nothing anyone can do about that. I’ve had that happen during every con hotel stay.
So, if you’re thinking about attending C2E2 in the future and want my advice, always book here! It’s worth it.
