It’s finally here! The Avengers trailer!
and my shirts arrived today! It’s like the Marvel God’s (Thor? Buhahahah) are looking down on me today! I can’t wait for this movie!
A woman is suing over the movie “Drive” because she expected it to be “Fast & Furious.” This, America, is why we can’t have nice things.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gone to see a movie and at the end been a little “Eh” because it wasn’t what I expected. Did I sue? Of course not! In this day and age it’s very easy to find out the plot of a movie before ever stepping into a theater. There’s a thing called “Internet” and you can go on it and search for things! You can even search for movie reviews and spoilers! A whole point of a trailer/preview is to get people to watch. I don’t remember ever being lead “wrong” by a movie preview but TV shows? All the time! It’s the whole point. The point is to grab your attention and make you go “Crap, now I have to watch.” As far as the “Drive” trailer? I never for a second thought it was going to be an action movie like “Fast & Furious” or “The Transporter.” I just don’t see Ryan Gosling picking a movie like that to do.
Oh and let’s not forget “Drive” is based on a book by James Sallis. I doubt this women knew that though if she’s bitching because a movie didn’t have enough chase scenes and action. I wonder if she knows what a book is.
Next weekend I head off to New York City for New York Comic Con! I’ll be there Friday – Sunday and I’m beyond excited. A friend/coworker and her husband are tagging along. It should be a great time.
Of course I used this as an excuse to buy stuff. I mean, I can’t wear the same stuff to two different conventions. I need to keep it fresh! What did I order? I’m glad you asked. I just ordered this yesterday:
Awesome right? Who doesn’t love Iron Man? I wanted to mix it up a little. I need to spread the love and not keep it all for Captain America. Don’t worry though. Hopefully this will arrive in time:
If not I’ll be pissed and probably just end up wearing my San Diego Comic Con Captain America shield shirt that I scored at the screening of the movie.
Friday I’ll be rocking Iron Man and Saturday will be Captain America. Why? Because the “Avengers” panel is Saturday and Chris Evans will be there. I must represent!
The above is a line from the Edgar Allan Poe poem “Annabel Lee.” I love Poe and I’m sure part of that has to do with the fact his grave site is here in Baltimore. I know many cities lay claim to being the “home” of Poe but guess what? Possession is 9/10th’s of the law!
If you ask me, Halloween and Poe just go hand and hand. If you know his stuff you probably agree. His work is perfect for a crisp fall night. Don’t most people like to curl up and read “Tell Tale Heart?” No? Just me? Hmm. We all know Poe had his demons. Don’t we all? It’s way too late to help him now but you can help out The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum here in Baltimore. Like most cities, we here in Baltimore have budget issues and like in most cities the first things to get cut are the Arts. Now, the building is on the Historic list and isn’t in fear of being destroyed but the museum will have to lock it’s doors if they can’t support themselves. I’ve been to the The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum and it’s a lovely look back in history. It’s small and in an area that I wouldn’t recommend hanging out in but it deserves to be saved. You can read more about the issues here.
How can you help? You can send donations directly to the museum at the following address:
Department of Planning
417 East Fayette Street
Baltimore, MD 21202
Make check payable to Director of Finance
Please annotate check “POE HOUSE DONATION”.
Also, Literary Landmark Press is working on putting out a Poe anthology:
We’re producing an anthology, and you can submit your poetry or fiction to email@example.com.
You can also pre-order the anthology—heck, preorder five or ten! You can also donate below.
Every cent from the anthology above printing costs and author payments (most are donating their payments) will go to the Poe house.
The book starts at $14.99 and they include pricing that adds a donation as well.
I’ve been looking forward to American Horror Story by FX since I first heard about it. I feel that TV needs more creepy shows and maybe less about lawyers and doctors. I remember when “Fear Itself” was on NBC (I think?) a few years ago but sadly, the Olympics were the same year and it never came back from hiatus.
Now this post isn’t going to be a review because I don’t even know where to start. It’s more or less going to be a rambling because I have a shit load of questions.
1. Who’s dead? Who’s not?
I’m pretty sure the family is alive but after that? I have no idea. My BFF and I both pretty much agree that anyone not in the family is most likely dead. I’m still not sure about the old lady neighbor though. Something is up with her, I’m just not sure what.
BFF has a theory that he’s actually a demon and controls the house. We both think he’s the one who killed the Twins at the beginning of the episode. But where did he come from? He’s supposed to be a patient of the father but you don’t see him dropped off. You don’t see him picked up. Plus he ends up wandering around the house and just chillin with the daughter! I mean, obviously they see this kid but the father doesn’t notice him coming and going? At one point he did call 911 (I’m assuming) about the kids thoughts and behaviors (Father is a shrink and has a duty to report harmful thoughts/behavior) but it seemed like no one knew of this kid? Plus the father didn’t have a SSN or anything. I mean, don’t you normally fill out paper work to see a doctor? Wouldn’t that information be on the paper work?
3. Surprise! I’m pregnant!
A little family back story is needed for this I guess. The family is husband, wife and daughter. The couple had a miscarriage and the husband ended up cheating on his wife with a 20 something student of his. The family moves (across the country it seems) to start a new life because we all know that works out so well. We learn during the episode that the couple hasn’t had sex in a year. I’m assuming part of that is the rough pregnancy and the other half is the fact he cheated.
Throughout the episode the husband is trying to show affection to the wife and put the moves on her. She’s still pissed though and pulls away. They end up having a huge fight about everything from the miscarriage to the cheating to the fact the wife bought a dog. But imagine that, the fighting turns them both on and they finally get back together in the bedroom sense. That’s not the only time the wife has sex in the episode though. She ended up having sex with who she thought was her husband wearing a pleather suit but we’ll get into that later. Anyway, at the end of the episode she tells her husband she’s pregnant. Now, I don’t believe it was a few weeks or a month later or anything like that. It seemed to me anyway that they had sex and then a day or two later she’s all OMGZ! I’m pregnant! And I get that it’s her husband she’s telling but after such a rough pregnancy before, wouldn’t you wait a little bit to tell anyone? Again, maybe I missed the timeline but it seemed that everything was flowing in order and that there wasn’t a large lapse in time between all the events. Alright, enough on the pregnancy. I’m getting a headache and still have more to question!
4. Pleather Man
Another is he real? Is he not? Did she just imagine him? Was it a dream? If he IS real (ghost/demon/whatever) then who is? The other “ghosts” that we’ve seen so far we know who they are and where they came from. This “guy” came out of the blue really. And if you’ve been checking out the website the main image makes you wonder just who is the baby daddy?
Seriously, that’s all I can handle for right now. My head is spinning and I think I’m going to try and rewatch the episode to see if I can pick up on anything that I might have missed. All I know is I’m hooked.
