Thursday I took off work in order to attend the AMC Marvel Marathon. That’s right, I use vacation time wisely! The event started at 10:30am with “Iron Man” and ended at about 2:45am with “The Avengers.” It was such a fun time! I attended with a friend from Twitter and we got along great. We both agreed it was a great event for a first time meet. I was surprised at how quickly the time passed. I’m surprised that I never felt tired either. I really thought I would’ve ended up dosing off during “Thor” or “Captain America” but I stayed strong! I think most people in attendance managed to stay awake but I know at least one person left early. Really? You made it through 4 movies and paid $40 and you’re leaving? Man up!
It was a full house for sure with people rocking everything from shirts to full out costumes. The ladies were out numbered but we stayed strong. I even noticed a few cute guys but I’m pretty sure most were too young for me. I even let one guy borrow my bag in order to sneak some burgers in during our “dinner break.” That was the nice thing, we did get breaks. They were normally between 20-27 minutes but we did get a 45 minute break for dinner and I think we had a 30 minute break between “Captain America” and “The Avengers.” Obviously they couldn’t start the last movie until 12:01. You should have seen the crowd waiting for the Midnight showings though! We were told 2,000 people were waiting but I wouldn’t be surprised if the number was higher. Some people were even waiting for a 3am showing because the Midnight options were sold out! Crazy, right?
Even though I had a great time, I don’t think I’d do a Marathon like this again. I’d attend a Midnight Showing for sure but I don’t think I could sit on my ass for that long again. My whole body was sore, even my jaw! I have no idea how to explain that one. By the last two movies, I couldn’t stop shifting and moving around in my seat, that squeaked. I mean, I have a hard time sitting still normally because it’s hard to get comfortable in those seats.
Anyway, I know I’ve already said it but everyone must see “The Avengers.” It was an epic movie and I can’t wait to see the final numbers for the weekend. It already did $80.5 million on Friday alone. I even plan on seeing it again tonight! I know it sounds crazy but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a $200 million final box office!
