A few months back I signed up for the Baltimore Color Run 5K. I’ve always thought the race sounded fun and I figured it would be a good first race. Of course I didn’t realize it was the weekend I got back from London. I’m a pro at double booking myself. I honestly didn’t feel like getting up Saturday morning because I’m still dealing with jet lag. I did get up though and dragged my ass down to the race. It was held at the stadiums downtown and the weather was perfect! It was a beautiful, clear morning, and it felt like Fall! Before I knew it, it was time to get the race started. I made my way to the Start line and then I was off. I feel confident saying I ran more than walked. I tried my best to pace myself and most importantly to have fun! It was really nice to see the security staff cheering everyone on and giving out high fives. It really did help keep me going! Especially near the end when you just want it to be over.
And when it was over, I had finished in 40 minutes! Did I mention I did zero running in September and pretty much went into this cold? I was really proud of my time and couldn’t believe I did it. I mean, not too shabby for my first 5K. I averaged about 13.32 minutes a mile. I know if I work at it, I can get that down to about 10 minutes. It felt awesome to cross the finish line though and earn my sweet unicorn medal.
Isn’t it awesome?! It’s the whole reason I signed up honestly. I already plan on doing this race again if it comes back to the area. If you’re looking for a fun 5K, I highly recommend checking this one out! They have a good amount of California dates coming up and I think one in Rhode Island. You can find more information here! Have you ever done a fun 5K? Or just a 5K in general?
