I’m all about supporting friends and that’s why I’m here to tell you about The San Diego Conquest Kickstarter! The writer is my friend Mario who I’ve known for a few years now. His name might sound familiar because he wrote “Ashes” which I blogged about as well. I met Mario back when I started When Nerds Attack. He reached out to me about being a writer and he really brought something unique and fun to the site. I probably would have been lost without his help! Now he’s back and writing about a group of friends and their comic-con adventures. I mean, if you like and enjoy conventions this is something you should 100% check out.
The San Diego Conquest is a buddy comedy set at the world’s most famous comic convention! This 120 page fully colored graphic novel is about a comic artist (and theme park princess) named Becca who heads to a big convention in San Diego with her BFF DeSean and brother Ashton in hopes of getting a big time comic editor to look at her comic. Naturally, the whole thing blows up in their faces in the most outrageous ways possible.
Along with Mario doing the writing, you’ll find artist Rob Alan, colorist Lesley Atlansky, and lettering by Taylor Esposito. This book really is a team effort and the perks they’ve come up with are pretty great! Here are a few samples:

There are even a few higher levels that include artwork, or being drawn into the story! I honestly might increase my backing to one of those levels, but gotta see how the budget looks come December. As of right now, with just a few hours under its belt, the campaign is sitting at just over $1,000 with a goal of $20,000. Don’t worry, you still have 44 days left to support the KS if you want!
Be sure to check the San Diego Conquest Kickstarter for all the details, and hey, maybe even back it if you like!
