If you follow along on Twitter or Instagram, you know I love Elhoffer Designs. I’m always retweeting her new creations or sharing them on Facebook. If you aren’t familiar with her, she’s a designer who’s been pretty much taking the nerd world by storm with her amazing designs. She designs outfits based on Deadpool, Hamilton, Loki, and more. Plus she does custom work too! Oh and the best part? Everything has pockets! And I’m not talking “cute” pockets but actual pockets that can handle a phone. Actual functional pockets. If that doesn’t make you jump for joy then you’re dead inside. I’m lucky enough to own two of her dresses. I have one that’s based on Deadpool and then the one I wore to Wizard Word Philly that obviously was designed around Winter Soldier. Not only was the dress made to my measurements which means it fit like a glove, she had the dress done way ahead of time and had no issues when I asked if I could sent it back to be hemmed. Trust me, I felt like a dick for even asking but she was beyond sweet and was more than happy to do it! While my weekend at the convention was stressful, thanks to her I felt amazing, confident and most importantly, comfortable.
I’ve cosplayed before and yet I was asked more about this dress than any of my costumes! I had people asking who made it, and I was quick to point them in the right direction. Not to mention Katie puts her designer label on the outside of the dress which means it’s easy for people to snap a picture so they can look her up later. Someone told me it was their favorite Winter Soldier dress they’ve seen and that just made me feel really great, not just for me but for the designer as well. And not only does the dress look and feel good, but it’s made very well. The construction is top notch as is the material. The photos really don’t do justice to the silver fabric she picked. I know some people “panic” when they hear the word “scuba” but the material is so high end and feels amazing. It’s soft and breathable! Both are very important when running around a convention all day.
Before this post gets any longer, if you’ve been on the fence about ordering from her, or maybe this is the first time you’re hearing about Elhoffer, pull that trigger and jump on board. You won’t regret it. It will ruin your life though because now buying dresses from a normal store is even sadder than it was before! Once you have something custom made, going back to store bought is hard as hell.
