I don’t wear makeup very often. It’s pretty much limited to conventions if I’m being honest, or sometimes when I’m on vacation. Basically, I know pretty much zero about makeup and I’m very basic when I do use it. I found out about Nyx when I was looking around on the internet for what Peggy Carter was rocking on “Agent Carter.” Don’t judge me, you know you were looking for it too. I found a blog post that listed a ton of dupes for the shade and Nyx Matt Lipstick in Alabama was one of them. I was able to find it, tried it, and fell in love with it. It went on easily, lasted throughout the day, and didn’t dry my lips out. As someone who’s just getting into makeup, these were all important check marks. But how did Haze enter into the picture? It’s not a very “traditional” shade, seeing how it’s a grey. Once again you can blame a comic book character, this time Negasonic Teenage Warhead. I loved her look and the way she rocked a dark lip. I wasn’t confident I could go full black though. I was worried about looking too pale and like death. I figured this was the next best thing and a way to dip a toe into the pool. Um, I love it! I was actually surprised how good it looked! It didn’t wash me out and just like Alabama, the formula was great. If you want a full review of the shade, along with a few other newer Nyx shades, check out this post by Valery Brennan.
If you’re interested in a different shade of lipstick, maybe wanting to step outside of your comfort zone, I’d give this a try! I think I’m going to like it even more once I go back to the dark side with my hair. I plan on using this shade for one of my C2E2 outfits!
Do you use any Nyx products? What’s the most “out there” shade of lipstick you own?
