When I saw this topic, my first thought was how to keep it to just 5 things! I’ve done a lot of nerdy things during my life. Some of them huge, some of them small. Oh and if you aren’t sure what 5 Fandom Friday is, be sure to visit The Nerdy Girlie and SuperSpaceChick! Now onto my list!
Of course this was going to be on the list. The fact that I planned a trip around the “Age of Ultron” London premiere and visited numerous Marvel filming locations is extremely nerdy. And awesome. I had the best time and can’t wait to go back and visit even more locations. I might even try and attend another premiere, but we’ll see! Maybe the next one will be in L.A..
2. Attending Conventions
I’ve attended a large amount of conventions in what I feel is a very short amount of time. There’s been San Diego, C2E2, New York, Baltimore, and a few smaller and random Cons thrown in. Yes, even a few Wizard World events. I went from attending 0 to trying to attend them all in a blink of an eye. My next one is in June!
I never in a million years thought I’d ever cosplay, but here I am! I’ve only done a few, and I don’t dress up for every convention. Sometimes there just isn’t enough time. But I’m here to tell you that anyone can do it and it doesn’t have to be expensive.
4. Fandom Related Tattoos
And they cover different bases. I have my Hawkeye and Black Widow tattoos, but I have one for the Orioles and a Nsync tattoo as well. My Nsync tattoo was my first one and my BFF has a matching one! I plan on adding to my collection by getting something Jurassic Park related.
5. Being Myself
I’ve always been a little nerdy. I loved watching Power Ranges before school. I watched She-Ra and X-Men cartoons as a kid. I always loved reading, and dinosaurs. And unicorns. And sharks. Seriously, there was a point where I could spew out the most random facts. I use to keep a book of stats for my favorite baseball player. I followed Nsync to different states. At one point I even made graphics and did a little HTML coding. And now that I’m older and have money, I can do things like OperationMAIL, or collect Hot Toy figures, or have a pull list at my local comic shop. Sometimes just being yourself can be the most nerdy thing ever.
And there you have it! I probably could have gone on and on. Like when I drove 10 hours to Chicago just to meet Stephen Amell. Or the fact I camped out twice for Hall H. Or when I started When Nerds Attack. Oh and that time I visited locations from “Jurassic Park.” Oh and “Burn Notice” in Miami. Yup, this list is never ending. And now I can’t wait to read all of yours!
I’m trying to win a pair of roller skates which would be perfect for my Derby!Widow. All I need is for 40 people to sign up here. You’re just signing up for a mailing list but feel free to use a junk email if you have one! Right now I’m at 15 people! Almost there!
