I hope you tuned into “Agent Carter” on ABC this past Tuesday. If you didn’t, I feel horrible for you. This show was everything and more. I’m not sure I can even put into words the emotions I have about this show. Obviously it follows Peggy Carter from “Captain America: The First Avenger” but it’s set before she’s appointed to run S.H.I.E.L.D. . Howard Stark is on the run after being accused of being a traitor and he asks Peggy to help clear his name. Of course there’s more than meets the eye with that but what? We have no idea yet! Mystery! Intrigue!
The amount of ass kicking Peggy did in two hours was insane. She was on top of cars, using a fork as a weapon, hitting guys with bags! But her best weapon? Her sass! Her attitude! Oh and the accents! Hayley Atwell did a fantastic job nailing her American accents. And as much as it sucked to see, I’m glad they didn’t skip around the sexism that existed in that time period. Granted, Peggy was able to use it her advantage numerous times but man, did I want to punch those jerks in the face!
And the clothes! Oh, the clothes! And not just her outfits, but all the outfits! Everyone just looked beyond put together and sharp. Even Jarvis looked great in his man apron.
Don’t even get me started on Edwin Jarvis though. He’s the perfect “partner” for Peggy. The banter these two have is top notch. But everything about this show is top notch. The sets. The wardrobe. The cast. The accents. The everything! I really can’t wait to see where the series goes and see Peggy grow and accept that it’s OK to get help from others. That no one can take the world on by themselves.
Did you catch “Agent Carter?” What did you think?
