My group decided to go to NYCC but then we changed our minds because of timing, money, and work issues. We tried to remove a day from our hotel reservation and that caused the rate to skyrocket $200 more. Like, really? We pretty much said we were no longer going and even made different plans for when Manda comes into town from Chicago, Well, now we’ve changed plans again and we’re back on for New York. We were able to find a much cheaper hotel that seems to even be in a nicer area perhaps and is still close to the ferry.
Now I’m back into the “excited” mode especially since they added the cast of “Elementary” and have a ton more surprises on the way. Plus Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky will be attending as well and I must meet them. If I have to wait in line all day I will. That’s how serious this situation is. We’re planning on checking out Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. too! Not to mention I’m looking forward to seeing a ton of friends. That’s really the best part of any convention.
This will be my 3rd year (I think) attending New York Comic-Con. They always have great guests and the panels are pretty interesting too. I don’t enjoy the layout of the convention center but there’s nothing that the show can do about that really. I do like the fact that recently they’ve started putting Artist Alley in a separate wing of the building away from the floor. It helps with overcrowding. It is a little harder, in my opinion, to find a “quiet spot” to recharge but they do offer a nice food court with a number of different options. You’ll find the typical booths on the floor as well including Marvel who have really stepped up their NYCC exclusive game in recent years. Last year they had an adorable Rocket Raccoon plush that everyone went wild over. I waited in line for what felt like hours to get my hands on one!
Anyway, I can’t wait to see what else is announced in the coming weeks. Are you planning to attend NYCC?
