(That kinda rhymes)
In case you didn’t know, I love Jeremy Renner. That’s why when I heard he was hosting SNL I vowed to watch and to stay awake. His hosting gig was this past weekend and while it had a few gems, it was just another episode that made me miss the days of Mango and Jimmy Fallon. I knew it was going to be rough when the piano had issues and you could tell Jeremy was nervous (we’re on a first name basis FYI). He’s an action guy and while many of his fans know he has a comedic side, not everyone else does. That’s why when I saw this unaired clip, I got pissed. This clip here is funnier than half the crap they ended up using.
It shows that Jeremy Renner can be funny. He can be something besides a guy with an intense stare. I mean, look at this clip here:
Lame, right? Yet this one actually made it while the “Thanksgiving” sketch didn’t, for whatever reason. This episode reminded me of the Michael Phelps hosting gig. You had a host with some potential but once again, SNL writers took a nap instead of working. They took the lazy way out. With Phelps it was “Hey! Let’s do 100 sketches about how this guy eats more than a small town!” Come on now! Hell, they had Adam Levine there with Maroon 5. They could have easily done a “Voice” sketch and had Renner as the singer.
I can’t believe I’m still fired up about this. Well, I’m not going to leave you with nothing good. Here’s an awesome skit from Saturday that I think everyone enjoyed. I mean, you can’t go wrong with guns, leather jackets and Jeremy Renner in the shower.
