I’ve seen this floating around a few blogs that I read and figured I wanted in on the fun! 12 Changes 12 Months is a simple way to help improve your life and achieve your goals! I think we can all agree that when we break something down, it’s much easier to accomplish. Think about it, it’s easier to clean a house when you break it down by rooms. It’s easier to pay off bills when you break each one down. Why not do the same with life goals?
I think my “word for 2012” as Steph (who helped start this thing) says, is going to be “Health.” I keep talking about losing weight and eating better and it’s time to finally do it. It’s time to pony up! It might sound bad but I have a wonderful trip to Hawaii in a few months and I’d love to look and feel better by the time I leave.
My goal for January is going to be to drink less soda. I’m a soda hound. It’s not just “normal” soda either. Instead of coffee in the morning I have a Mountain Dew. And not just once or twice a week, but pretty much every morning during the work week. I know it’s bad. Hell, it’s horrible really, but it’s an addiction. I’ve tried to a few times to cut back and have “relapsed” each time. Hopefully this time it’ll go my way and I’ll be able to stand strong!
The main issue is at work. We have two drink related vending machines, Pepsi & Coke. This makes it super easy to just grab a can and on top of that, it’s only a quarter! When I tell people this they freak out about it. I mean, it’s an awesome price. We have a water machine as well which I try to remind myself about but when you hear the sweet call of sugar, it’s hard to resist sometimes. At home, it’s not a huge deal. I have different teas to drink plus we always have a juice of some sort. I really wish as a company we offered healthier drink choices besides just the water machine. I’d settle for “flavored” water like Vitamin Water! In the end though, it’s up to you to make the right choice. I’m not forced to drink soda, it’s a choice I make. A choice that needs to change.
